Sara Glojnarić (Zagreb, Croatia) is a composer whose artistic practice is dealing with pop culture, its aesthetics and socio-political consequences, nostalgia and collective memory, as well as the vast network of pop cultural data and their byproducts arising through their juxtaposition.
Her works, which include opera, orchestral, and chamber music pieces, as well as video works and multimedia and multi-sensory installations, have been performed by renowned ensembles such as Ensemble Musikfabrik, Trio Catch, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Mosaik, Ensemble Modern, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, Trio Catch, Sarah Maria Sun, Dirk Rothbrust, Ensemble Mimitabu, Rubiks Collective, Decoder Ensemble, The Black Page Orchestra, Croatian Radio Symphony Orchestra and many others, at festivals such as ECLAT Festival Stuttgart, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Ultraschall Festival Berlin, Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, Showroom of Contemporary Sound, Warsaw Autumn and Music Biennale Zagreb.
Sara studied composition at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, in the class of Dr. Davorin Kempf, and later earned her BA and MA degrees in composition from the State University of University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart in the class of Martin Schüttler.
She is the recipient of numerous international prizes, competitions and artistic residencies, most notably the Erste Bank Kompositionspreis Wien, the Kranichsteiner Musikpreis at the Darmstädter Ferienkurse 2018, the Ivo Vuljević Prize 2019 of the Jeunesse Musicales Croatie, the composition competition NEUE SZENEN V of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the artistic residency Progetto Positano in collaboration with Ensemble Mosaik.
In the 2020/2021 concert season, her operas and ensemble pieces were premiered at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (chamber opera Kein Mythos based on a text by Dorian Brunz), Elbphilharmonie Hamburg (Trio Catch), Darmstätder Ferienkurse (Ensemble Adapter), Sophiensaele Berlin, ZeitGenuss Karlsruhe and at the Opera Halle, where her video opera “Im Stein”, staged by Michael von zür Mühlen, based on the novel Im Stein by the author Clemens Meyer was featured by the Opernwelt magazine in the category “Most Important Streams of the Year.”
In the upcoming 2021/2022 concert season, her works will be premiered by RSO Wien and Marin Alsop, Klangforum Wien, percussionist Leonie Klein, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Mosaik, Quatour Diotima and the Münchener Kammerorchester.
She has been a fellow of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg since 2019. Her works are published by Edition Juliane Klein.

The New Recherche – a collaborative project with Hannes Seidl, Charles Kwong, Clemens Thomas and Ensemble Recherche. I will be showing my mockumentary titled »The Future Will Be Better Tomorrow« with Christian Dierstein and Melise Mellinger as the protagonists.
